Our Enterprise Go-to-Market (GTM) team comprises all aspects of sales and marketing including sales, technical pre-sales, channels, and marketing. This dynamic team is responsible for the success of the GTM strategy in accelerating sales growth, driving pipeline, building repeatable sales models, and ensuring market awareness and thought leadership across key verticals with a focus on the Corporate CIO and IT buyers. You will be part of a team with a start-up mentality to build a business for our Enterprise networking and security products. Our goal is to assist our customers in attaining their cloud transformation strategies by securing, protecting, and optimizing all Enterprise applications, users, and devices as a service in the cloud. **About the Job** The enterprise IT landscape is turning inside out - applications and data are moving to the cloud, employees are becoming more distributed, and the enterprise’s traditional zone of control is expanding. The Enterprise Solutions Engineering Manager is responsible for managing cross functional, full life cycle technical and functional delivery of technical presales activities for customers at a regional or industry vertical level. The Solutions Engineering Manager role requires someone with strong leadership, interpersonal, and business skills to work with Sales, Channels, Product, and other supporting organization teams to protect and grow our Enterprise account base. The Solutions Engineering Manager leads a team comprised of Enterprise Solution Engineer individual contributors and reports to the Global Solutions Engineering Director. As a SE Mgr you will be responsible for the following items: **Responsibilities** + Customer Satisfaction – Deliver world class solutions and drive customer satisfaction. Requires willingness to thoroughly understand Akamai’s technology and products to successfully deliver innovative solutions. + Sales Alignment – Work closely with counterparts in Sales and Channels Management to grow the business. + Enterprise Product Bookings – Responsible for managing to a regional sales bookings number. + Planning and Execution – Proactively drive initiatives to improve the regional pre-sales capabilities of the team to improve sales efficiency and customer satisfaction. This includes creating yearly strategic business plans and quarterly updates, to achieve sales bookings goals. + Resource Planning and Allocation – Develops yearly resource planning and allocation strategy, in alignment with the division director. This includes performance management, compensation, hiring, and attrition. + Operational Excellence – Ensure the team follows the standards of the SE role including customer and partner external activities, and internal best practice and compliance activities. + Professional Development – Responsible for developing team’s sales, technical, and leadership skills to innovate solutioning capabilities, scale the business, and achieve employee satisfaction. + Effective Communication – Proactively communicates team’s direction, goals and progress to field, GSS leadership, C-Level Akamai leaders, division heads, functional team, and peers. + Travel up to 40% **Qualifications** **Basic Qualifications** + 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or relevant experience and a PhD. + 5+ years of experience in a customer facing environment such as sales or technical consulting. + 3+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, working directly with customers, channel partners, carrier or system integrators, and business partners. + 3+ years of experience with IP networking, switching and routing technologies such as RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, STP,CDP, L2 transparent bridging, VLANs, MPLS. + 2+ years of experience of internet and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS) and tools. **Desired Qualifications** + 2+ years of experience in managing pre-sales teams to drive product and service growth, including creating go-to-market strategies. + Experience with direction and controlling the activities of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups or service areas with overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas. + Experience with routers, network appliances, and WAN Optimization devices. + Experience in the web application security field. + Experience with on-site IDS/IPS or Firewalls or Web Application Firewalls. + Strong background in Layer 7 technologies and protocols, such as HTTP, DNS, SSL, Web & App Servers, Load Balancers, Content/Application Delivery Network (CDN), HTTP Streaming, Mobile Site/Application Acceleration, Three Tier Architectures. + Experience within the Carrier and/or Service Provider landscape. + Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills appropriate to both technical and management clients. + Experience developing and enhancing strong client relationships. + Demonstrated operations and organization skills implementing and driving best practices in multi-office, cross functional organizations. + Strong organization and analytical skills. + A proven track record demonstrating good business judgment, an ability to make decisions, and a passion for excellence. + Excellent English language skills. **About Akamai Technologies** Akamai is the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services, making the Internet business ready—fast, reliable, and secure—for its customers.
