Built to process events in real-time, and scale to handle 1.3PT of traffic per day generated from our global network, the platform allows for interactive, ad-hoc data queries. Akamai is growing, and we’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our top-notch analytics team. You’ll work on a real-time analytics back-end capable of handling billions of events per day. This is an opportunity for you to take your passion for engineering, and build compelling applications to develop the next generation of Web performance analytics, working side-by-side with some of the industry’s leading Web performance experts. About the Team This is a small, focused team in the Web Division at Akamai. Our team is responsible for this Big Data platform, providing both data warehouse and analytics capabilities to Akamai’s customers as well as internal researchers. In addition, this platform is used as a foundation for new, innovative applications at Akamai. Responsibilities * Design scalable processes to collect, manipulate, present, and analyze large datasets in a production ready environment, using Akamai's big data platform * Develop working prototypes of algorithms and evaluate and compare metrics based on the real-world data sets * Work closely with our engineers to deliver code across our platform Required Education and Experience: * MS or PhD computer science, applied math, statistics, machine learning * 2 years' experience with statistics and experience with machine learning algorithms/techniques * 2 years' experience in applying machine learning techniques to real-world data * 2 years' experience with Data Structures, Algorithms and Design Patterns * 2 years' experience working with programming languages and big data environments, specifically, Python, Java, Spark and Hadoop Desired Qualifications: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Passion for solving challenging analytical problems * Ability to work productively with team members, identify and resolve tough issues in a collaborative manner * Previous research experience in Machine Learning specifically anomaly detection * Masters or higher degree in applied math, statistics, machine learning, computer science or relevant subject **About Akamai Technologies** Akamai is the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services, making the Internet business ready—fast, reliable, and secure—for its customers.
