Blending advanced analytics with deep institutional knowledge, we reveal new opportunities to maximize performance. **The Role** **POSITION SUMMARY** The Underwriting Director has primary and overall responsibility for all underwriting operations for the Agribusiness Programs, ensuring that operational and financial performance, along with regulatory and technical standards, are met. The position provides expert in-depth knowledge, leadership, insight and direction to ensure that the Program team and associates achieve their objectives. The Underwriting Director will develop and deliver annual plans, as well as contribute to strategic business plans. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES** + Lead the Agribusiness Program’s underwriting platform to achieve operational and financial goals + Contribute to the development of broader business goals, including new program development, through underwriting expertise + Effectively administer carrier underwriting guidelines, including rate and form filings; achieve carrier profitability targets + Set priorities, targets and standards (metrics) for underwriting Programs; review and evaluate the performance; provide feedback and calibrate as needed + Ensure compliance with relevant internal and external standards (i.e. underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements), and develop policies and practices to achieve compliance + Maintain high levels of internal and external client contact to generate growth opportunities in collaboration with Program Managers and individual underwriters; attend association meetings, trade shows and conventions as necessary + Manage and maintain excellent working relationships with insurance carrier partners; develop new carrier relationships when appropriate + Build strong partnerships with stakeholders across the business unit in order to improve collaboration, identify opportunities to improve services and ensure client satisfaction + Lead, inspire, motivate and develop a team of underwriting professionals to maximize their performance, productivity and enhance the client experience + Ensure the appropriate people strategy is in place to recruit, retain, train & develop staff effectively + Other duties as assigned **ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING** + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred; + CPCU designation desired; + Property and Casualty license mandatory with required continuing education + Deep expertise across a variety of risk, insurance and reinsurance products/services; extensive commercial insurance knowledge + Deep expertise across a broad range of underwriting techniques and methods + Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and influence + Excellent relationship management skills + Excellent verbal and written communication skills; + Excellent organizational skills; + Proficient with office technology tools + Must demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility; must be able to perform under pressure and handle multiple concurrent priorities **WORK EXPERIENCE** + Eight to ten years underwriting management experience + Ideally, prior MGA experience; strong understanding of the insurance carrier and brokerage business **PRESSURE OF WORK** + Job requires an organized, fast pace, with flexibility to respond to unexpected issues and assignments + Constant demands and interruptions, as well as keeping abreast of changes in multiple program guidelines and regulations, may cause a high level of stress + Quick judgment and decision-making skills required + Limited direct supervision received; position requires a self-motivated person able to work independently + Travel required _Any unsolicited resumes/candidate profiles submitted through our web site or to personal e-mail accounts of employees of Willis Towers Watson are considered property of Willis Towers Watson and are not subject to payment of agency fees.
