**Counsel** **Cambridge, United States** General & Administrative Apr 04, 2017 Post Date 005905 Requisition # **About the Job** Akamai is looking for an experienced lawyer with demonstrated abilities to be a key business partner for highly motivated and technology savvy clients. The successful candidate will be expected to handle a wide variety of commercial contract negotiations with customers and reselling partners, provide sound legal and business advice to both business and legal management team(s), and take the technical deep dives required to understand the implications of the transactions in negotiation. The role will include handling, prioritizing, and following through on numerous projects simultaneously. The Legal team currently consists of over forty professionals located in the U.S., Germany, Poland, Singapore, Australia, China and Japan. Responsibilities + Prepare, review, comment on, and negotiate contracts and other commercial transactional documents of varying complexity levels with Akamai’s customers and reselling partners. + Collaborate with and advise Akamai cross-functional business teams globally, including business personnel from sales, finance, tax, compliance, information security, product management and IT teams, on legal and regulatory risk associated with commercial sales contract matters and projects. + Assure conformity and consistency in application of Akamai legal and business policies and practices. + Participate in efforts to enhance the legal department’s overall performance. + Handle other tasks that arise from time to time and require the attention of an Akamai attorney. Basic Qualifications + Education: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited lawschool. + Minimum of 6 years of legal support or similar experiencein private practice or in-house. + Strong contract drafting and negotiations skills inEnglish. + Experience in technology sectors. Desired Qualifications + Excellent analytical, negotiation and contract draftingskills in a variety of technology and/or licensing agreements, includingsoftware, managed services and multi-tier channel reseller models. + Strong working knowledge of international commercial contractlaw, corporate law, competition law, software licensing, privacy and dataprotection and intellectual property rights. + Basic working knowledge of corporate tax law, a plus. + Astute commercial awareness, robust time and projectmanagement skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well asthe ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. + Solid experience in the Internet, IT or telecommunicationsfield, ideally with a mix of law firm training and/or substantial in-houseexperience. + Excellent written and oral communication skills,including a clear and concise drafting style. + Solid experience providing legal support to Salespersonnel. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Ability to multi-task and provide follow-through onprojects. + Project management skills, a plus. + Additional verbal and legal drafting skills in a languageother than English, a plus. + Flexibility to work with colleagues and internal clientslocated in diverse regions of the world. + Enjoy working for a very fast paced team. + Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality and highlyteam-oriented approach to work. + Good sense of humor.
