170244 Welder / Fabricator Our customer located in Rochester Hills, MI is seeking a Welder / Fabricator for a contract-to-direct hire position. The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience. Required Schedule Normal hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm with a 1/2 hour lunch from 11:30am to 12:00 pm noon. Currently, they are working about 50 to 60 hours per week due to schedule. 10 hours per day (Monday through Friday), and 8 hours on Saturday (which is subject to change). A 10 hour workday is from 7:00am to 5:30pm, and an 11 hour workday would be 6:00am to 5:30pm. Summary Company is seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator to perform welding (both MIG and TIG) and fabrication of various materials, including stainless or even plastics. The right candidate has a strong work ethic and common sense, and is self-motivated with the ability to follow thru with assignments when given direction. Must be able to keep focused on the work assigned for timely, quality results. Attendance is of great importance, including being on-time everyday ready to put in a good day’s work. Purpose Fits and assembles components according to assembly blueprints, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild, and repair automated finishing systems using hand tools and power tools. Analyzes assembly blueprints and specifications and plans machine building operations. Duties Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as tape measures, calipers, gauges and micrometers. Lays out hole locations, and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly. Aligns components for assembly, manually or with hoist. Bolts screws or welds parts together using hand tools and welding equipment. Removes high spots, and smoothes surfaces, using chisels, scrapers, files and powered hand grinder. Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments. Tests operation of assembly by hand. Assembles, sets up, and operates machine to verify functionality, capabilities, and conformance to customer specs. Forms and fastens piping, fixtures, and attachments required to service machine with air, water, and oil. Installs wiring and electrical to weld structural metal components / members. Pipe / plumbing and modularization of systems. Other duties as directed by Plant Manager. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of automated finishing systems and spray painting. Plumbing, fittings, electrical and plastic forming. Able to run drill press, lathe, manual flame cutting equipment, metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening, bending machines, hand tools, power tools. MIG & TIG welding and operate Hi-Lo. Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications and be able to examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate manual equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG and TIG welding. Plasma arc cutting structural and sheet steel to size, shape, and configuration called out on prints. Mechanical abilities for installation of motors, valves, and pumps. Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve, with the ability to diagnose and correct issues. Minimum Qualifications Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time with frequent bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds or more weight with assistance. Must have the ability to work in manufacturing environment with exposure to painting, grinding, soldering, and welding of metals. Must have custom welding and spray painting experience. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Must be proficient with reading text, math skills, writing, and oral communication. Must be able to work well with others, problem solve, think critically, and plan and organize job tasks.
