170297 Senior Accountant Our customer located in Northville, MI is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a direct hire position. The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience. There is also annual bonus potential, dependent on individual performance and overall company performance. Summary Multi-functional position with a main focus on Accounts Payable 50% of the time. Other functions may include financial analysis, cost and managerial accounting, and corporate finance functions working directly with management. Essential Functions Manage and full in-charge accounts payables. Detailed responsibilities include: Codes such items as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system. Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email. Attaches the corresponding purchase orders to incoming invoices with all supporting documentation. Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders. Assists with monthly status reports, and monthly closings. Reconciles various accounts by identifying errors in posting or omissions by applying appropriate accounting standards. Process remittance information from checks, drafts and wire transfers for invoices provided by vendors, reviewing instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures. Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons. Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records and reports. Support and assist department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, etc. Financial Analyst and Cost Accounting Functions include: Manages and develops project cost module, product cost analysis. Prepare financial analysis and decision support on capital projects and new business. Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary. Analyze cost accounting data and assist inventory manager with cycle count / physical inventories. Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or Accounting-related functions is required. Must be highly proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets, as well as other accounting software. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines. Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data. Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills, professional interpersonal communication skills, ability to speak in front of management team – including preparing presentation for team meetings. Ability to work in team-based, multi-disciplinary, multicultural, fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Ability to take a general question, dig through detailed data, and deliver meaningful, concise, written, or oral report that drives positive business decision making. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting is preferred. Prior experience with product costing (monitoring standards, looking at production orders and budgets, looking for trends, monitoring costing variances) in a manufacturing company is a plus. Prior experience using Sage software is preferred. Payroll experience is a plus. Chinese language proficiency is a big, big plus. Required Travel No travel required.
