**Senior Product Manager - Emerging Mobile** **Cambridge, United States** Product Management Jan 06, 2017 Post Date 006350 Requisition # The Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for products and features that improve the performance and security of mobile apps. The successful candidate will possess the highest ability to work cross functionally with other BUs and business functions to achieve the goals set by the Senior Product Line Director and Senior Management. The position requires strong technical aptitude and business savvy to identify market needs, define and prioritize product requirements, and guide go to market messaging. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence a broad and diverse team will be critical to success. Responsibilities * Write product requirements and user stories and review engineering specs and deliverables to confirm they meet product needs * Take ownership of the product through all phases of the development process including internal product release gates * Draft the Product Roadmap and collaborate on Go-To-Market strategy * Partner with Product Marketing on product collateral (customer presentations, product briefs, white papers, webinars, etc.) * Work with Finance to delivery product revenue, COGs, and profitability models * Sell the vision and product offerings internally as well as externally * Work with your peers across BUs to and seek avenues for collaboration * Be a “Thought Leader” for your product About the Job The Emerging Mobile Business Unit (EMBU) is focused on developing new, innovative mobile oriented products that leverage Akamai’s unique visibility into Internet traffic and Akamai’s ability to deliver high quality experiences to web and media customers. EMBU is “start-up” within Akamai. The organization is lean and will remain so. Members have deep expertise in telecommunications, networking, CDN, performance optimization, SDK development, commerce and media. The opportunity to learn from your peers is huge. Required Education and Experience Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: * 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or * 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or * 5 years of relevant experience and a PhD Basic Qualifications: * 5+ years of experience with product management, product marketing, product development or equivalent experience. * 3+ years of product management in telecom, networking or software development * 3+ years of experience in a customer facing role such as consultant, sales engineering, or professional services Desired Qualifications * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time * MS in Computer Science or relevant technical discipline; MBA is a plus * Prior experience in guiding a new product offering from first requirements to revenue is highly valued * Strong communications skills (both written and oral) * Technical experience in mobile technologies (3G, LTE, IOS, Android) * SDK Product Management experience * Strong consideration of UX throughout all aspects of the product * Demonstrated ability to speak to business owners, as well as Engineers is highly valued * Experience working with media and/or commerce companies and understanding the value chain of each is a strong plus Akamai Technologies is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer that values the strength that diversity brings to the workplace.
